Every so often it's worth stopping to look at your own project with the same honesty we ask people to apply to themselves with a symbolic map. This is what we see when we do that exercise with Molino, today.
It's not a press release or a response to a particular incident. It's simply an honest snapshot of where we stand: what works, what's missing, and above all, what this project really is — without inflating credentials we don't have.
What we did well
Privacy isn't a marketing promise here: the free map calculation runs entirely in your browser. Your date of birth doesn't travel to a Molino server to give you your Life Path, your sun sign or your Chinese zodiac animal.
The calculation engine is published as open source — there's no proprietary, opaque process hiding how each result is reached. And there's no monthly subscription: what's free is free forever, and the only thing that costs money (the AI synthesis) is paid once, not every month.
What we improved
For a long time the 'About us' page talked about the project in the abstract, without telling why it really exists. We rewrote it to tell the real story: it was born from the frustration of paying for knowledge that should be public, not from a business plan.
We were also missing honest documentation of the project's limitations — where it doesn't reach, what it doesn't replace. That work is still ongoing, and we'd rather say so than pretend it's already solved.
What we are NOT
We're not certified experts in numerology, astrology or the Chinese zodiac. We're not a traditional company with a support team, an office or a funding round. We don't offer diagnoses, therapy or predictions — the symbolic systems we use have no scientific backing, and we say so that directly in every corner of the site.
What we ARE
We're enthusiasts who got tired of paying for subscriptions. We built this because we believe symbolic knowledge should be public, free and private. We're not certified experts, and that's fine: we don't sell expertise, we sell tools.
The project is bigger than one person — the code is public precisely so it doesn't depend on any particular individual continuing to maintain it. Anyone can read it, question it or improve it.
