Aries and Cancer
♈ Aries (Fire, Cardinal) · ♋ Cancer (Water, Cardinal)

Aries and Cancer in love
In love there's magnetism and strong emotions: Fire wants action, Water wants depth. They can ignite each other or hurt each other; the key is minding how things are said.
In friendship and work
In friendship and work, both want to start and decide: they get a lot going, but they have to share command or they clash.
Why they get along this way
Element — Steam and transformation. Fire heats Water and Water can put out Fire: magnetism and intensity, with the challenge of regulating the temperature.
Rhythm. Both are cardinal: both initiate. They understand each other's way of moving, but neither makes up for what the other lacks.
Polarity. Aries is Yang and Cancer is Yin: one goes outward and the other inward, and that balances them or pulls them apart.
Rulers. Aries is ruled by Mars (action and desire); Cancer, by Moon (emotion and care).
What each one brings
Aries: initiative and leadership, courage and energy and enthusiasm.
Cancer: empathy, intuition and protecting the home.
Where they can clash
Aries: impatience, impulsiveness and a tendency toward confrontation.
Cancer: mood swings, excessive attachment and a need for control.
How to look after the bond
Pick your fights and agree beforehand on who decides what. Used well, the tension of the square is an engine; used badly, it wears you down.
